I’m Still Here

Hi everyone!

I promise, I’m still here.

This year has been crazy busy. I’ve had so many opportunities this year to do the early childhood advocacy work that I’m so passionate about and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Life is pretty great when you’re walking in your purpose. 🙂

I live in Colorado and this year we had some pretty big wins for children and families. Back in March, I got to testify in front of the Colorado House Education Committee to support funding for universal full day kindergarten. Pull out the party hats because it passed and was implemented this school year! And I won’t lie, it was pretty great getting to be a part of the bill signing.

There are bills upon bills that affect children in our state. Legislators are looking into paid family and medical leave and decreasing maternal morality rates, while our governor is currently forming policy to provide funding for universal preschool.

I even got to go to Washington DC twice(!) this year to advocate for children and families nationwide. (And fangirl over legislators I saw walking down the halls of the Capitol.)

It’s been a great year.

In all the excitement though, this blog got more than a little bit neglected. I had hoped to post weekly — I could even show you my content calendar — but that just didn’t happen. For that, I’m sorry.

Along with a passion for political advocacy, I care deeply about providing research based information for the parents, teachers, and caregivers who are looking for it. I really do believe that everyone wants what’s best for the kiddos in their lives.

That’s why I’m still going to be here.

I may not post every week like I originally wanted to but I will post. It might not always be about developmental milestones or strategies for working with kids but everything I post will be centered around children and families. I care too much to just let this fade out.

As the saying goes

“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”

Keep doing good, my friends.

Talk to you soon,
Jennifer
